Invicta Primary School

Our Curriculum

At Invicta we teach and follow the National Curriculum for England for Key Stage 1 and 2. Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

Our Challenge Approach

At Invicta, we teach the National Curriculum through a challenge-based approach to learning which is underpinned by our school drives - creativity, physical education and health and well-being. Each term the children are set challenges through a challenge question, linked to a real-world experience or issue which encourages them to think creatively about how they might best answer this question. Their learning is then shared and celebrated with our families and wider community each term through a whole school big challenge outcome each term. Some of the challenge questions and outcomes we have posed for our pupils since 2015 can be seen here:

Curriculum map

Our curriculum map shows the elements of the national curriculum covered across the year groups. It is progressive, and has been carefully thought out to ensure there are opportunities for elements of learning to be joined, consolidated or built upon in terms of broader topics and themes as pupils progress through the school. We have worked hard to ensure we have a fluid and diverse curriculum, designed and created to be representative of our community and the world we live in.
