Home learning for Children Self Isolating

While your child is self-isolating at home, and feeling well, it is really important that they continue with their education.  As the class bubble is still open, the teacher will be teaching their daily lessons in school. However, they will also upload and assign work to your child using the classes Google Classroom and Oak Academy resources. This will be done by 9am each day.

Oak Academy is a government initiative and is an online school made by teachers, for children learning from home. Although we understand that the lessons from Oak Academy are not exactly the same as what they are learning in class, the teacher will make sure that similar skills are taught. We will also ensure that the children are given the right support to transition back into school learning following their time at home.

This is the schedule below for daily lessons provided:

Here is a step by step guide of how to access your child’s home learning during self isolation:

Log into Google Classroom using your child’s username and password - instructions here. If you are unsure of your login - please email your class teacher.

Once you have logged in, you will find the work set for your child under the day and date. This can be seen in the stream and under upcoming. You can also find all of the work under Classwork at the top.

Click on the lesson

This will bring you to the assignment where you will see the instructions and links to the lessons. When you click the links , you will be brought to the Oak Academy page. Follow the lesson here.

Submitting work -see arrow

You can submit work on the right hand side . You can add a document or link a photo file . Once this is done , you will be prompted to ‘hand in’ your work .

You can also send your teacher a private comment about the work or ask questions.

Work submitted on Google Classroom will be acknowledged within 48 hours. You will also receive one phone call a week from the teacher to see how your child has progressed with the work set.

Home learning in the event that a class bubble closes

In the case that your child’s bubble closes, we will revert to a very similar provision during the partial closure before Summer led by the class teacher.

If your child is well at the end of the 14 days period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities. Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 14 day self-isolation period.
