Wider Opening of Schools
Friday 26th June 2020
Dear parents and carers of children attending our Reception bubbles,
You may have read in our recent letter that due to demand for places for our Essential Workers’ children we have now reached capacity in terms of staff who can lead bubbles. This means we are unable to open an exclusive bubble for our nursery children.
In order to give these children the opportunity to attend school, and within this prioritising the children who are starting Reception in September, we are offering spare Reception bubble spaces to them. So when your children come home and tell you about their new friends in their classes next week, this is why!

Dear parents and carers of children in Year 1, Reception and Year 6,
Please click here for detailed information and our home school agreement related to the wider opening of school for your child(ren)'s year group:
2nd June 2020
Dear parents and carers of children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6,
I am writing to you as you have a child or children in one or more of the year groups that the Government has prioritised for a phased return to school. There is a lot of information in this letter, but I want you to be informed as much as possible before you make your decision about your child(ren)’s return to school.
As you know, we plan to begin our gradual return on Monday 8th June and an indication as to whether you intend sending your child back will be very helpful in our planning. There is a survey for each Invicta site at the bottom of this letter. After reading all of this information, please fill it in as soon as you can for your site (and no later than the end of tomorrow Wednesday 3 June) to share your intentions and any other information with us.
Your decision can be changed in the future, but any information you share with us now will be very helpful in our planning.
We have spent the last 2 weeks thoroughly planning and risk assessing for the safe wider opening of the school and have delayed this survey until we have been able to give you as much information as possible.
We are now in a position to share our model, which has been approved by the Governors, and other information so you can make an informed decision about your child(ren)’s return.
Key information for parents and carers regarding the wider opening of Invicta Primary School
Our phased reopening is planned as such, and subject to change as mentioned above:
-8th June Y1
-15th June Reception
-22nd June Y6 (Blackheath)
-29th June Nursery (Blackheath) *Please note, this is to be confirmed, depending on uptake and further risk assessment. Top up hours can not be offered
- As for the majority of schools, the return will be part time, including staggered times for the start and end of the day, so we can follow guidance and accommodate all children safely with the resources/ staffing we have.
- In keeping with Government guidance, which recognises that full social distancing is not possible in a primary school environment, children will be allocated a place within a “bubble” of no more than 15 children with consistent staffing. This staffing will only be changed if there is staff absence. This will not necessarily be with your child(ren)’s own teacher, nor in their usual classroom or outdoor space, as this would be impossible to arrange under the guidance we have to follow. Children cannot move from bubble to bubble or mix with children from other bubbles when in school.
- Children will be allocated a bubble by alphabetical order of their last name. We guarantee they will be with children from their class and will attend on the same day as siblings, but for equity’s sake we are unable to accommodate any other criteria. This inevitably means that not all children will be in the same bubble as their close friends, however it will be an opportunity to be a part of new friendship groups. Thank you for your understanding with this.
- Children attending our provision for key workers and vulnerable children can ONLY be part of 1 bubble (ie either the provision bubble or the wider opening of year groups bubble) Children cannot switch bubble at a later date. If your child attends the provision for key workers and vulnerable children until their year group reopens they may move to that bubble, but not back again.
- Parents and carers of children who do not return to school during this time will NOT be penalised by the Government, local authority or school.
- The school will continue to offer an online provision for children in priority year groups who do not return to school, and this will inevitably be staffed slightly differently.
- Should children not attend in the first instance, space for your child will still be held in their ‘bubble’ during the remainder of the term, should you choose to send them to school at a later date. However, we request that you give us as much notice as possible to prepare for their return -
- With safety as our priority, before your child(ren) return to school we will share a home-school agreement. This will include information about how we are working to help keep children safe as well as expectations we have of children and families in terms of safety. This will be sent out to you via email and can be digitally signed for you to show your agreement. Please make sure you read, sign and return this form prior to your child coming back into school - it contains important information.
- The Invicta model is as follows: Bubble A will attend on Monday and Tuesday weekly, Bubble B will attend on Thursday and Friday weekly. School is closed for staff PPA and thorough deep cleaning on Wednesday.
The reason that the return is part time is to ensure that children in priority year groups who attend school have time with an allocated teacher and learning support assistant and that they are in school “regularly” (i.e. weekly for 2 days, rather than fortnightly for 4 days). Within this model all of our available teaching staff are part of the bubble system. This model also means that our teachers can have the capacity to maintain the high quality online learning provision for non-priority year groups (Yr2,3,4,5) and for those in EYFS, Y1 and Y6 who are not attending.

Thank you again for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.
Best wishes,
